Defining Holistic Health

What is it?

Holistic health is a comprehensive approach to wellness that sees the mind, body, and spirit as interconnected. When one area is out of balance, it can affect the whole. Instead of masking symptoms, it focuses on uncovering root causes and supporting the body naturally.

Rooted in ancient practices like Traditional Chinese Medicine, holistic health emphasizes the body’s ability to heal itself. Today, it can include herbal remedies, cleaner food choices, natural alternatives, and mindful lifestyle habits that nurture overall well-being. It also recognizes how deeply our environment and daily choices shape our health, from the air we breathe to the spaces we spend time in.

It’s more than diet or exercise—it’s a way of life that promotes balance, prevention, and consistent self-care. By listening to your body and creating sustainable habits, you lay the foundation for long-term health.

In a world where chronic stress and illness are on the rise, holistic health offers a proactive path forward. By adopting sustainable habits, we build resilience, supporting not just our physical health, but also our emotional and spiritual well-being.

The benefits are clear in Blue Zones, regions with some of the highest life expectancies, where people have been practicing these principles for generations. like Okinawa, Sardinia, and Ikaria, where clean eating, mindful living, and strong social ties have supported longevity for generations.

Holistic health empowers us to take control of our well-being in a system that often prioritizes profit over people. With rising pharmaceutical use, natural remedies and food as medicine offer sustainable, root-cause solutions for lasting health.

This lifestyle also creates ripple effects, every conscious choice, from the food we eat to the products we use, contributes to a healthier, more sustainable world. By embracing these principles, we lay the foundation for vitality, healing, and purpose-filled living.

Why Does it Matter?

The Full Story

Hi, I’m Jazmin, founder of Well & With.

Movement and wellness have always been part of my life. I grew up in a dance studio, moving every day, and stayed active in the gym well into college. Staying healthy felt second nature, until everything changed.

In my early twenties, I began experiencing a cascade of unexplained health issues: digestive problems, irregular menstrual cycles, and even unsettling cardiac symptoms. By age 23, I was a regular at the gastroenterologist’s office, cycling through endless tests, MRIs, ultrasounds, gastric scans, and prescription after prescription. Some dulled the symptoms temporarily, but none addressed the root cause. I thought I was doing everything “right,” yet I still felt sick, frustrated, and defeated.

The turning point came when my mom was diagnosed with cancer for the third time. With a family history of cancer on all four grandparents’ sides, it hit me hard. I realized I couldn’t keep taking my health for granted—not for one more day. I stopped asking, “Why is this happening to me?” and instead began asking, “What can I do about it?”

These thoughts led me to holistic wellness, as I came to understand that true health isn’t just built in the gym, but in the choices we make every day: the food we eat, the products we use, the environments we spend time in, and the habits we build.

A family friend referred me to an alternative medicine doctor, and honestly, I went feeling both apprehensive and hopeful. Instead of more prescriptions, I left with a new plan: herbal remedies, targeted dietary changes, and swapping harmful products for cleaner alternatives in my home and skincare. I cut out red meat, refined sugar, and ultra-processed wheat and gluten. I began paying close attention to the ingredients in everything, from my shampoo to my cleaning sprays.

Within months, the nausea and stomach pain eased. My energy returned. My cycle began to regulate. For the first time in years, I felt like my health was truly mine again.

But during that journey, I noticed something that didn’t sit right: the wellness world, meant to be healing, often felt isolating, overwhelming, and hard to navigate. Without community or trusted guidance, it was nearly impossible to know where to start or what to believe. I realized I was lucky to have found my provider  through a word-of-mouth referral, but not everyone gets that kind of chance.

So I started asking myself bigger questions: How could I help make holistic health more accessible? How could I create a space where the experts, the curious, and the community could come together, face to face?

That’s why I created Well & With. A grounded, inclusive space where wellness isn’t about perfection or pressure. It’s about learning, exploring, and connecting in ways that are approachable and rooted in community. Because after all, we’re better when we heal together.

Welcome to the community. I’m so glad you’re here.
